Radio Announcers Love Numbers
Before we count them down, I have to reiterate how important numbers are to a radio announcer. Everything we do is numbers based. How many seconds can you talk over that song before the artist starts singing? How many songs can you play on your radio station in an hour? How many commercial breaks an hour? How many commercials IN those commercial breaks every hour? Or the age old, how many people listen to my radio station? Is my station at the top of the ratings? What's our number? I could go on and on. So, this article thing Townsquare Media has us doing, is just another number in our day, and we kind of dig it.
Here Are My Top 8 Articles For 2023
#8: Tear Down That Illegal Build In Glacier Park Again, out-of-staters tried to exploit the natural beauty of Montana for their own gain, only to prove that they're dumber than a box of hair
#7: Sleep Like A Star In Charley Pride's Great Falls Home Everyone loves a good Great Falls Charley Pride story, and this one you can sleep in
#6: 10 Celebrities That Live In Montana It amazes me that I wrote this story in 2022 and it still just racks up reads. I'm not 100% sure, but I'd say this is my biggest article of all time
#5: Here Are Our 30 Selfie Finalists From Montana State Fair This post's popularity is no surprise at all. It was a killer contest
#4: Seriously, How Freaking Long Does It Take To Build A Chipotle? Honestly, I don't know what to say. I really thought only my mom would read this, and that was a crap-shoot
#3: The Rise And Fall Of Holiday Village Mall I thought this would do alright, but as my 3rd most read story? You could knock me over with a feather
#2: 10 Reasons Why You Should Never Ever Move To Great Falls same information as the Why I Love Living In Great Falls article, only framed differently. My biggest take away here is if it's negative, it wins.
#1 Most read article of the year: Open Letter And Invitation To Great Falls For Shallon Lester This article went sort of Montana viral when a Montana group on Facebook picked it up. I never imagined this would take off like it did.
I can't stress enough how strange and wonderful it is that you read my articles and the articles by the other announcers. Back in the day in broadcasting school, I never thought this is how I'd spend my days. Thank you for spending them with me.
