Kia Is Issuing A Recall On Over 250,000 Vehicles

In January, Kia will send out over 250,000 recall letters due to safety concerns on vehicles produced in the Georgia plant.

In a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration dated November 17, 2025, due to an issue that can cause the fuel tank in certain Kias to melt, leak and possibly catch on fire.

How Will I Know If My Kia Is Being Recalled?

Kia will be sending owners notification letters in January 2026.

You may also hear a popping sound from your fuel tank area, the Check Engine Light comes on, and/or your Kia isn't running right.

Is There Anything Kia Owners Can Do Prior To January?

To be on the safer side, you can bring your Kia into the dealership for a free inspection and check valve replacement. Some Kias will need fuel tanks replaced, as well.
