Quaker Oats Company Issues Recall

From The FDA website:

Quaker Oats Company announced a recall on Friday, December 15, 2023, of specific granola bars and cereal.  The products could be contaminated with Salmonella.

The Quaker Oats products are sold all over The United States, and Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan.

Consumers are urged to go through their pantries and dispose of these products.

It was only a month ago that lead was found in Applesauce that is manufactured for toddlers.  Looks like this contamination may actually be intentional.  We'll be watching for updates.

My personal advice is to take a picture of your items and also demand a refund from Quaker Oats Company.  Recalls are getting much too common in America, and the companies are relying on you to toss the bad stuff, then go buy more things to replace it.  Maybe, if we start demanding accountability with dollars, they may pay more attention to what they're doing in their production facilities.

As of the date of writing, there have been no cases reported and no confirmed reports of the illness.

According to the Mayo Clinic:

Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract.

 

Some people with salmonella infection have no symptoms. Most people develop diarrhea, fever and stomach (abdominal) cramps within 8 to 72 hours after exposure.

 

Life-threatening complications also may develop if the infection spreads beyond the intestines.
