In this state park, you'll find the well-preserved home place of Chief Plenty Coups and his wife, Strikes the Iron, with the home being designated as a National Historic Landmark.
About Chief Plenty Coup's State Park
From Montana FWP, there is a rich history in this farmstead that's about 40 miles out of Billings to the south.
- In 1884, Chief Plenty Coups became one of the first of the Crow Nation to settle on a farm
- A 320-acre tract a half mile from Pryor was deeded to Plenty Coups through the federal Indian Allotment Act.
- Plenty Coups opened a general store, built a home and farmed the place until 1932 when he died at 84 years old.

How Long Does It Take To See The Park?
You should plan on, at least, one hour to walk the 3/4 mile trail in the park along Pryor Creek, and see the Visitor Center on the property. From May to September, the park is open 8am-8pm.

There are plenty of beautiful areas for having a picnic or taking in the scenery. There is a play area and bathroom facilities.
The park is a day park only, there is no camping allowed.
