All of us have that something at work that we've complained about a hundred times.  Something that only hinders how YOU can do YOUR job so it's really not in anyone's sights but yours, so nobody thinks about it again after you mention it.

Mine Is My Mic Arm

It's a very basic thing for a radio station control room, a mic arm and a mount on that arm for holding the mic.

Since I started on The River back in 2017, the mic arm has been an issue in this room.  It either won't go down low enough, the mic MOUNT won't hold the mic up while talking or, like it was doing in December, it will just suddenly fall quickly ramming the mic into my teeth.  (This is wrong on so many levels.  Don't even get me started on how dirty mics are.  And dude, that actually hurt where the rest of my complaints are because the defective mic arm leaves me one handed when I'm on the air.)

I Don't Even Know How Many Times I've Brought This Up

For some reason, this studio doesn't get much love no matter how loud I am.  I told my General Manager that I've requested a new mic arm 500-600 times, and he thought I was kidding.

I wasn't kidding.

Can We Fix It For Real This Time?

It's amazing what a word or two from a General Manager can accomplish.  For seven years, I've been asking for this fix. Today, when my GM saw it, I finally got it.  A different mic ARM with a different mic MOUNT.

It's a totally different mic, too.  We'll have to see how it sounds.

Check Out The Idaho Brewery That Looks Like A Radio Station

Just a few hours away from the Tri-Cities, there's a brewing company that looks like a radio station.

Creepy Abandoned Radio Station In Whitesboro

The one thing that pictures will never be able to help you fathom is the incredibly eerie vibe this building throws off. There are random noises you will hear every now and then that freak you out. Cobwebs everywhere you turn and an old smell of dust that you just cannot mistake.
