From Avast:
"United States Postal Service (USPS) scams usually start with a fake text message about a delivery issue with a request for personal information, a redelivery fee, or a link to a scam website."
That's exactly what happened this morning. Fortunately, Townsquare Media takes phishing and scams rather seriously, so they are continuously training us so that we are less likely to fall victim to jackwads like this.

I've marked up this text to show you what told me it was a scam.
- Unknown Number, my phone can't even guess who it is
- Complete and total fake internet address for the link to click
- Who in the funky fresh would EVER think this kind of jib jab is a REAL message from the United States Post office
- Warning that it's not anyone I know and an offer to junk the text
Watch For These In A Scam USPS Text:
From Avast:
- No tracking number or incorrect tracking number
- Asking you to share personal information
- Watch for spelling, grammar or other mistakes that may show that English is not their first language
- USPS never includes links in their text. (That's good information)
- Asking for additional money for delivery
What Is In A REAL Text From USPS?
Avast reports:
- The actual, real, tracking number
- It actually SAYS it's from USPS
- The status of the package
- Date, time and location
- Instructions to stop text updates
