Speeders Gunna Speed

Everyone knows speeding is a problem in Montana.

Whether it's the wing-nuts who bring their super expensive car to Montana to speed on our highways, or the in-town idiot who goes down your street every day about 10-20 miles per hour over the speed limit, speeders gunna speed.

What Can Be Done To Slow People Down In Town?

Traffic Calming, as the traffic people call it, happens all the time. It comes in many forms like:

  • Speed bumps
  • Curb extensions
  • Chicanes
  • Modal Filters
  • Roundabouts
  • Raised crosswalks
  • Rumble strips
  • Median diverters
  • Dead-end streets
  • Cul de sacs

I found this news report out of Philadelphia. They tried this to stop speeding in a particularly bad neighborhood for speeding.

Look at this fresh hell:

What in the funky fresh do we have here? Was the street painter drunk or high? Did the street painter have a seizure or heart-attack? Nope. This was the intended effect.

I Have To Wonder If This CAUSED Some Accidents At First

Can you imagine the first time you drove to where ever on that? I would think that they lines being wonky would be reason enough to make that road even LESS safe than it was when the traffic fixers ran to the rescue.

Don't Do This Wacky Stuff In Montana

The last thing we need is THIS kind of street. Why you ask? Because we can't seem to get around a roundabout, the easiest of solutions. Having the street painter go all wonky on us isn't the answer either.

Did I mention It Looks Ridiculous?

It. Looks. Ridiculous.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
