Flying With Thanksgiving Dishes? What You Need To Know
Montanans Travelling Over The Thanksgiving Holiday In Record Numbers
All over Montana we've been warned to plan for extra time when travelling over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Whether that's leaving an hour or 2 earlier than you normally would for a drive, or making sure you don't hold up a TSA line in the airport, it's all part of planning the trip.

People Fly With Actual Prepared Thanksgiving Dishes
What? I have NEVER understood bringing coolers of food on an airplane. Isn't that what same day delivery is for? For the love of stuffing, mail that. You could also, and pardon me for getting crazy, go get groceries wherever you're travelling. The chances of a grocery store where you're going are pretty good. But, I digress.
Picture this:
You're flying to your aunt's in Pasadena, and you're charged with bringing the green bean casserole. Naturally, you want to make it before hand and carry it around while you layover a couple of times flying from Montana. Will you be able to carry it on with you? Surprisingly, yes. If you were to bring that exact same green bean casserole unprepared, with cans of beans, they would have to go in your suitcase.
What. Is. Up. With. That?
11 Alive reports it comes down to this simple rule:
"if it's a solid item, then it can go through a checkpoint" where as if it's more liquified -- "if you can spill it, spread it, spray it, pump it or pour it" -- then it needs to be in a 3.4 ounce container that is standard with all other carry-on liquids."
