Dupuyer’s Teddy Bear Fence: A Big Sky Treasure
There's A Teddy Bear Fence In Montana
Roadside America says the Teddy Bear Fence is "On the west side of US-89 just south of Deflection Rd, about seven miles south of Dupuyer or 13 miles north of Bynum."
Thanks, Lewis and Clark. (I'm awful at giving directions.) I couldn't find the Teddy Bear Fence on Google Maps, so these are the best directions you're going to get.

How Did This Teddy Bear Fence Come To Be
According to reporting from KRTV:
It all started when a wildlife crossing was put on Highway 89. Patrick Field, a farmer from Dupuyer, decided to peacefully protest the wildlife crossing by jokingly hanging 3 stuffed bears on the fence. It didn't take long for the word to get out about the protest of the wildlife crossing and it started gaining popularity.
Fast forward around a decade or so, and it's a popular spot on US Highway 89 for people to stop, take pictures, and add a stuffed bear to the collection.

When Field was asked if he saw this coming, he responded, “Never, never in a million years did I think it would do what it did, no,”.
The Legacy Of The Teddy Bear Fence
As a person from that area, I love the idea of this Teddy Bear fence.
It adds some fun and whimsy to a stretch of road that, honestly, isn't all that fun and whimsical, especially in the wind. If you're planning a trip to Glacier, it could be a fun place to stop, take a few pictures, and maybe even add your own Teddy Bear.
If you add your own Teddy Bear to the fence, be sure and send us a picture.
