Do Not Drive: Thousands Of Montana Vehicles Under Urgent Recall
Massive Do Not Drive Recall Issued
From the NHTSA:
There has been a do not drive recall issued by the NHTSA for vehicles equipped with Takata airbags that are made with non-azide driver inflators (NADI).
From US105: 27 deaths have been attributed to the airbags, as well as over 400 people injured.
This is completely separate from the other Takata air bag safety recall of about 10 years ago.
Why A "Do Not Drive" Recall?
From Capitol One:
When a Do Not Drive Recall is issued, it's due to an enormous safety concern.
"A DNDO usually involves vehicle defects that could directly and imminently lead to a crash or prevent passenger protection in an impact. In other words, a potentially unpredictable danger makes the car too risky to drive."

Why These Takada Air Bags Are Being Recalled
These air bags have inflators that can actually explode with the airbags deploy, or the air bags don't inflate properly when deployed.
It's believed to be a seal on the inflator. Due to this defect, either the air bag won't deploy in an accident, or it will inflate so fast that it can explode with a possibility of injury or death from the metal parts in the inflator.
