January 16, 2025, Parts Of Montana Saw Some Real Winds

Strong, gusty winds were causing crazy driving conditions Thursday, January 16th in Pondera and Glacier Counties. According to KRTV, some gusts were over 80 miles per hour. The Blackfeet Tribal council closed north and southbound truck traffic on 89 south for a time due to the winds.

The Wind Is Sometimes Brutal In Central Montana

Growing up in Montana, 60-90 mile per hour winds are fairly normal, brutal but normal. Just like anything you live with on a regular basis, you find work arounds, like not letting go of your car door or it will get blown right off.

Once, Between Browning And Valier My Car Was Blown Over On The Road

My first radio job was at KOFI in Kalispell. I had decided to go see my dad in Conrad driving my 1980 whatever Dodge Colt. It was super windy and a big gust blew my car from the right lane to the left lane. This girl was SHOOK. I was so scared. I had to pull over and take a breather.
