One Of The Most Scenic Train Trips In America Goes Through Montana
I love a train ride. I don't really know why, but there is something about the movements and sounds and overall feel of a train ride that I just love.
When I saw that Thrillist had a list of the most scenic train rides in the country, I just had to see if the Amtrak Empire Builder made the list.

Of course the Empire Builder is on the list.
In 2 days you can go from Chicago, Illinois to Whitefish, Montana. Not only can you get off the train in Whitefish and check out Glacier National Park, when you take the Empire Builder to Whitefish, you get to see parts of Glacier and Montana that you can't see from a car. It's quite spectacular.

I would recommend getting some kind of sleeper car. As I was travelling alone, I got a roomette. You see, I don't like being around people, so I was able to have a tiny room all to myself for the trip. It was glorious.

When you book a sleeping car, all of your meals are also included. The food is pretty dang good, too. Basically, you are getting your room, food and transportation for one price. There are a lot of extras as well like priority boarding, and a private lounge in the station featuring tv, couches and snacks.
