In 2024, Michelin Added Hotels To Their Rating System

In April 2024 Michelin announced it's added hotels to their ratings in America, but instead of awarding stars, like for restaurants, Michelin is awarding keys for hotels. Michelin has been rating hotels in Europe and Asia since the 1920's.

What Are The Criteria For Hotels To Get A Michelin Key Rating?

The Michelin selection team uses:

• "Excellence in architecture and interior design
• Quality and consistency of service
• Personality and Character
• Value for the price
• Contribution to the neighborhood and setting"

Does A Key Ranking Mean They're Expensive Hotels?

No. They just need to be leading the pack like the criteria that's listed just above this.

Do All Michelin Key Hotels Have Michelin Star Restaurants?

No. Montana doesn't have even one restaurant with a Michelin Star, but we do have a handful of Michelin Key hotels.
