
Authorities Investigate Heartbreaking Mother’s Day Tragedy In Kalispell
- An entire family was murdered and a man killed himself in the early morning hours of Mother's Day in Kalispell, Montana.
- This is the second murder/suicide in Montana in May 2025
- Montana has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation
Kalispell Mother's Day Killings Believed To Be A Murder/Suicide
Kalispell Police reports that a call was made to 911 from Silverbrook Estates. Due to worrisome things that were said by the caller, the police arrived at the apartments at 5:52 am. When there was no response, officers entered the residence and found the victims:
- 27-year-old Katie Olson-Hartley
- 6 year old Heidi Hartley-Olson
- 7 month old baby Hartley-Olson
Also found deceased in the residence, 33-year-old Nicholas Olson-Hartley. All of them are believed to have died from gunshot wounds.
It's believed that Nicholas Olson-Hartley called 911 after killing his wife and children, then after making the call to 911, he killed himself.
This Is The Second Murder Suicide In Montana This Month
On May 1, 2025, two brothers were found dead off of Highway 200 near Wolf Creek Canyon.
It's believed that one brother shot another brother, tried to set his body on fire in the house with his parents in it, then went out and committed suicide.

Montana Has One Of The Highest Suicide Rates In The United States Of America
This compounded with all that's going on right now, it's not too hard to see how things can get out of hand for some people. What's bothersome, or more bothersome I should say, is when innocent people have to go down as well. It's getting super scary as of late.
