One of the things I love most about Great Falls is the trees that are just about everywhere. Not only are trees beautiful, but they provide so much for us like shade and oxygen. It makes me sad to see a tree go. Especially an old tree in all of its colossal beauty.

Tuesday, I came home to my neighbor's beloved Cottonwood tree being taken down. She told me that it was coming, but I forgot to ask why. I knew she'd never take it down unless there was something wrong with it.

I'm not going to lie, it was quite something to see. That tree had to be 70-100 feet high. I know I sound crazy, but here's a picture of it.

That tree was SO TALL and so pretty. There are plenty of days that I'd sit in awe of my neighbor's trees. She has perfect shade and so much natural privacy. Many times I was roasting in my non-tree tiny yard thinking that she must be 15-20 degrees cooler in her yard due to her amazing trees.

On the other side of that, my mind would wander to having to fell one or both of her trees. I thought it would be a hell of a job to do. I never thought I'd see it in person.

It was amazing how the the lumberjacks painstakingly took that tree down. It was one big piece at a time. And the crane work was something to see, too. I took some pictures to show you how amazing it was to see. These guys are so good at their job.
