Big Lots In Great Falls Is Closed

Saturday, October 12, my mom and I were going to stop into Big Lots to see what was left, and a lady came out and said it was literally down to 2 shelves of "odd things I've never seen in there before" and the rest of the store was empty.

Since Monday, I've tried to get a hold of Big Lots to ask when their last day would be, to no avail.

Today, I called the Holiday Village Mall office, and the gal told me their last day of being open was on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Now that they're closed, I want to rant a little. What a HORRIBLE going out of business sale. Anyone could see they were sending warehouse items to the store they couldn't sell anywhere else. Bed, Bath and Beyond did the same thing. I get that in closing, the more you sell the less you pack. But, do you really need one last chance to dump sub quality products? All I'm saying is, you still have an online presence, and now, I doubt your overall quality.

What Is Going On With Big Lots?

On July 31, 2024, Penn Live did a story on Big Lots. They lead the story with this:

"Last month, discount chain Big Lots said it would close 35 to 40 locations after its revenue numbers saw a steep decline impacted by what it called a “challenging consumer environment.

But, now a month later, Big Lots isn’t just closing 35 to 40 stores, it will actually be closing more than 140 stores."

Penn Live reported that in an SEC filing in June, Big lots basically said that based on what they're seeing in the company, they do not think they can comply with the Excess Availability Covenant and the Term Loan Facility in the next year.  They don't even know if they can continue to stay in business.

I called Big Lots, and the clerk told me they had not set a closing date as of yet. We'll keep an eye on this story and let you know as soon as we find out.
