
Glacier Park Vehicle Passes: What You Need To Know
- Vehicle passes are needed in Glacier National Park in 2025 for certain sections
- Vehicle passes can only be purchased on Recreation.gov
- Many Glacier is undergoing construction this year
When Do Visitors Need A Vehicle Pass For Glacier National Park?
From The National Park Service:
Vehicle registrations are needed between June 13, 2025 and September 28, 2025 for those headed to the west side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road and North Fork between 7 am and 3 pm.
Vehicle reservations are issued in 2 hour blocks:
- 7 am-9 am
- 9 am-11 am
- 11 am-1 pm
- 1 pm-3 pm
If a reservation time is missed, you may enter the park after 3 pm.

Many Glacier Construction Closure 2025
Glacier National Park began construction in 2024, and should be finished in 2026. The park will have limited personal vehicle access to Many Glacier.

There will be temporary shuttle service available to park visitors to access Many Glacier and Swiftcurrent from July 1, 2025 until September 21, 2025.
Who Doesn't Need A Vehicle Pass For Glacier National Park?
Those visitors who enter Glacier Park from the east side of the park at St. Mary will not need a vehicle pass. Keep in mind, if entering from the east side, you will not be able to go back through Apgar without a timed entry vehicle reservations.
When Does Glacier National Park Take Vehicle Reservations?
You can log on to Recreation.gov and reserve your vehicle time right now. Go to the section of the park you'd like to enter from, then make your timed entry vehicle reservations.

Slots can fill up pretty quickly certain times of the year. If you're planning on making Glacier Park a vacation this spring or summer, the earlier you reserve EVERYTHING in the park, the more likely you are to have a vacation of a lifetime in Glacier National Park.
