
New Resort In Lakeside Faces Backlash From Locals
- The same company that built the Montana Club wants to build around Flathead Lake
- The resort would be members only and called the Flathead Lake Club
- Residents of Lakeside, Montana rallied against the plan
Discovery Land Company Has It's Sites Set On Flathead Lake, Specifically Lakeside
Discovery Land Company on their properties that cater to the 1%:

They've already taken Paradise Valley and turned it into BozeAngleles. Due to the wealthy discovering Montana, locals can not afford to live and work in the towns they grew up in. The towns in the valley themselves are becoming almost unrecognizable.
Now, they have their sites set on the other side of the state and Glacier National Park.
DLC is applying for the development under the name Friends of the Flathead.
What Is Discovery Land Company Proposing In Lakeside?
- 359 single family homes in a subdivision on 1,700 acres on US Highway 93, Lakeside
- Planning on amenity lots including restaurants, clubhouses, spa, retail stores and more
- They plan to develop 20% of the acreage and leave 80% open
DLC Has Already Developed 3 Exclusive Properties In Big Sky Country
Discovery Land Company owns:
- Crazy Mountain Ranch, Shields Valley
- Iron Horse Golf Club, Whitefish
- Yellowstone Club, Big Sky
Maybe since we've seen what they do with Montana, the people of Lakeside are saying they don't want anything like this in their back yard.
There were a handful of Lakeside residents who want the exclusive club in their home town. One in particular, who said
I almost feel like we’ve been handed a gift and chance of a do-over--David Fetveit, real estate broker
Hmmm.
Do you think he could be thinking about the insane amount of money he'd make on this? Probably not. I'm sure he's just thinking about the future of Montana and how much we need out-of-staters to come in and fix us. Look how well it's turning out in Bozeman.
The proposal will be taken up again on August 13, 2025 at the next planning board meeting.
