June 10, 2025, Bornstein Seafoods Issued A Voluntary Recall of Coldwater Shrimp Meat
Bornstein Seafoods issued a recall on over 44,000 pounds of Cooked & Peeled Ready-To-Eat Coldwater Shrimp Meat. It's thought that the shrimp may have been exposed to Listeria monocytogenes. They found traces of Listeria during routine testing and decided to pull the product.

The shrimp was sent to retailers and distributors in California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. The FDA is worried that the product could have been sold at other retailers around the United States.
What Is Listeria And How Do You Recognize It?
Listeria monocytogenes are an organism that can cause the very old, very young or immune compromised individuals to get very sick and sometimes it's even fatal.
The symptoms of Listeria are:
- High Fever
- Severe Headache
- Stiffness
- Nausea
- Abdominal Pain
- Diarrhea
- Can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths
What Bornstein Seafoods Products Are Affected?

The above picture is the shrimp involved in the recall.
The lot code is on the lower left corner of the master case label at the bottom or on the back of both the 1 and 5 pound bags. The market name is Shrimp.
What Do You Do If You Have The Contaminated Shrimp?
Throw it out or return it to the store you bought it.
