Where Does Montana Rank In The Nation For STD’s?

According to The Montana Department of Health and human services, in our state there are more than seventy-five(75) recorded cases of an STD every week.

The Daily Montanan reported in 2021 at the height of the pandemic, Montana was at a six year high of increasing number of sexually transmitted disease cases ranging from Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis at 10%, 85 and 42% respectively.

Where does that leave us in comparison to the rest of the country?

According testing.com, Montana ranks generally low for sexually transmitted diseases compared to the rest of the country.

We rank 39th in the country Chlamydia with 4,133 cases per 100,00 people.

34th in the country for Gonorrhea with 1,698 cases per 100,000 people.

43rd in the country for Syphilis with 45 cases per 100,000 people.

32nd in nation for cases of Congenital syphilis at 2 per 100,000 people.

It seems that despite us having a low ranking for STDs in country, we can't escape the fact that cases Chlamydia have gone up in every state in the country quite significantly in the last 20 years.

According to Route Fifty, The top 5 states, Alaska, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina and New Mexico have seen double digit increases in this particular sexually transmitted disease primarily with the young adult age range of 15-24.
