Given the choice, a lot of Montanans would rather vote by mail.

How do I know? Because in November 2024, over 55% of Montanans had turned their ballots in by election day.

If you have a mail-in ballot in Montana, you can vote any day up to the election day, OR you can still choose to vote in person.

Donald Trump Wants To Get Rid Of Mail-In Voting And Voting Machines

In Reuters today (August 18, 2025) they quoted Trump as saying this on Truth Social

I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we're at it, Highly 'Inaccurate,' Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES,

Then he went on to say this:

Remember, the States are merely an 'agent' for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do,

There are two things that REALLY bother me about what Trump is saying.

1. Putin agreed with him. That tells me everything I need to know about mail-in voting. If dictators hate it, it's good.
2. Trump votes by mail. Once, he was even sitting in the White House when he voted.

I'm going to defer to my number one bothersome thing again, if dictators hate it, then it must be good.

Trump is also going after voting machines.

A Majority Of Montanans Vote By Mail

People in every state vote by mail. (And in other countries, in case you hear different, click here.) This is an important way for everyone to get their say in our states and America. Both Republicans and Democrats are worried this will disenfranchise thousands and thousands of voters all over America and in Big Sky Country.
