Did you know Montana has a world-class botanic garden and Arboretum?  Tizer Botanic Gardens and Arboretum, near Jefferson City.  In fact, it's a great stop halfway between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

What makes them exceptional?  Tizer Botanic Gardens and Arboretum is Montana's only full-time operated Botanical Garden and Arboretum and it's one of only three in the world that are internationally accredited.  It's privately owned.

The Botanical Gardens and Arboretum has 6 acres of gardens and arboretum, trails, a garden center, gift shop, a wedding and special occasion venue plus festivals and activities scheduled throughout the year.

What Can You See on a Visit?

They have 11 different gardens:

  • Rose garden
  • Vegetable garden/orchard
  • Herb garden
  • Children's garden
  • Gazebo garden
  • Shade garden

Prickly Pear Creek runs through the middle of the gardens and has a habitat all it's own. You can even visit the living tool shed.

There are also 2 hidden islands in the gardens.  One even has a cabin, the other, a table for you to sit and enjoy the creek.

Above the Children's garden is the Wildflower Walk with an observation deck for you to take a seat and soak in all of the natural splendor.

You Can Spend The Night in the Gardens

Imagine falling asleep to the sounds of Prickly Pear Creek.  VRBO has the listing for the two cabins.  Keep in mind, they DO NOT have amenities like WIFI or television, and there are no bathrooms in the cabins.  They do have a pretty nice composting outhouse.  One cabin has a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave.

They do offer coin laundry, fire pit, outdoor furniture and free parking.
