What You Need To Know About Walmart’s Radioactive Shrimp Scare
This isn't something I say every day:
If you have shrimp from Walmart in your freezer, it might be radioactive. No, I'm totally serious. The Walmart shrimp in your freezer could seriously be radioactive.
Is This A Recall Or An Origin Story?
I've seen this off and on for a couple of days, but honestly just couldn't wrap my head around it. I thought it had to be a mistake or a hoax.
Radioactive shrimp? Is this a superhero origin story or the real deal?

The Walmart Shrimp Recall Is The Real Deal
Right now, the Food and Drug Administration is investigating reports of Cesium-137 in the shipping containers at 4 ports in the United States, LA, Houston, Savannah and Miami.
This statement from the FDA is so important, I didn't want to change one word:
Although testing to date has not confirmed the presence of contamination in any product in commerce, the product appears to have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with Cs-137 and may pose a safety concern. To date, FDA has learned that Walmart has received implicated raw frozen shrimp, imported after the date of first detection of Cs-137 by CBP, but from shipments that did not alert for Cs-137.
What Should Be Done With The Radioactive Shrimp?
The Food and Drug Administration suggests that you DO NOT eat or serve this shrimp to anyone. If you see it in your freezer, throw it away immediately.
