Open Letter To PETA In Great Falls

Hey  PETA,

Did ya have a hard day?

I'm asking because it looks like your pig squeals and protesting just brought Smoked. American Barbeque what I think might be one of the biggest days in their history.

Not the immediate turn to veganism you had hoped for, with the subliminal sounds in the pig cries. Montanans are a bit tougher to crack than that, darling.

First, someone should have let you know Montana is crazy about their meat. So crazy in fact, the governor just signed a bill banning lab grown meat. That means that in Montana it's real meat or nothing.

Second, let's talk about Montana and livestock. Whether it's beef, pork, or poultry, Montanans have a huge stake in it.

You see, here, in Montana, beef and the like is more than a trip to the grocery store. It's a way of life. It's generations of hard working Montana men and women putting their blood, sweat and tears into making a living that provides you with protein.

To ask us to quit our jobs, and quit eating meat is like asking us to make the ocean beds habitable for human life without oxygen tanks and the like. It's just not going to happen.

Let me explain:

Until humans don't drown anymore, we can't live on the floor of the ocean. Similar things can be said for the cattle industry. When people quit eating meat completely, perhaps generational Montana ranchers will find a new trade.

Until then, you are kind of like a silly joke to us. I'm not one to make fun of vegetarians. Unless you downright beg for it.

When you pick ONE restaurant out of the hundreds in Montana that serve meat, you lose my respect (Don't get me wrong, I have never and will never respect PETA. It's a generalization.), and I have no cares for your dignity. You literally asked for this.

You got the press you wanted. I just don't think it turned out the way you had hoped.
