Really? Another Rate Hike From Northwestern Energy?
Northwestern Energy Keeps Raising Prices On Montanans
The electrical rates in Montana are skyrocketing, which blows my mind considering the natural resources, that aren't coal, in this enormous state of ours.
Save On Tariffs Without Panic Buying: Great Advice Here
According to the Daily Montanan, since 2022, Northwestern Energy has upped electrical bills in Montana by 28%. That's absolutely stunning when you think of it. You know what's even more stunning, they're asking for ANOTHER rate hike. By the way, that rate hike was on homes not businesses.
Northwestern Energy Wants More Money From Montanans
Montana Free Press is reporting that Northwestern Energy is asking the Montana Public Service Commission for a 9% increase on natural gas customers. Apparently The Montana energy monopoly needs help paying for a huge new gas plant.
Remember The Montana Public Service Commission already said yes to a preliminary increase to consumers in November of 8.4% or roughly $4.38 a month. The 9% hike would bring that cost to $4.74 a month. That will net the company over $193 MILLION dollars a year.
Most of us have already been paying it.
This is after Northwestern Energy requested another $164 million to pay for their gas plant in Laurel, higher property tax bills, investments in transmission lines and its return on equity.
When Will These Shenanigans Stop?
Most businesses pay for their own expansion. In these trying times, when will our elected Montana Public Service Commissioners stand up and say, "Enough on the Montana consumer, already"? It is time for the PSC to speak for the Montanans who elected them.
