The Streets Of Great Falls, Montana Are Changing

It seems like more and more as I drive around town, I spot something new being built or something old being torn down to make way for some new businesses to make a go of it in Great Falls.

I love it. Anything that doesn't evolve dies. But the other day the nostalgia of JB's being torn down made me sad for my step-dad. He loved eating there. But, times they are a changin', make way for Panera.

Great Falls Is Really Bustling With Excitement For The First Time In Awhile

This is actually really fun to write because Great Falls is actually moving in the right direction. Sure, there are still way too many car washes, tire shops, casinos and the like. But in the mix now are some exciting new places for the folks in the Electric City.

Most of the people I know who refuse to live or come here say one of the reasons is a lack of familiar variety in The Falls. They're talking about everything from Shopko and Herbergers being gone to chain places they love to patronize or dine at.

Before you slap me for not doubling down on buy local, I'm saying this because familiar things like the elusive-to-Great-Falls Olive Garden, bring people comfort and make them feel safe. Some people don't like to try new things and they will go where they feel comfortable. The same can be said for a local favorite like Borries.

For the record I buy local whenever I can.

What's The Latest On New Businesses In Great Falls?

• Pomdoro: In the old Mrs. Wright's Pasty building on 10th serving Italian
• Sweet Junes: At 525 Central Avenue serving freeze dried candies and more
• Panera Bread: 1322 10th Avenue South in the old JB's Building
• Texas Roadhouse: In the Holiday Village Mall parking lot at 1216 10th Avenue South where Fiesta En Jalisco was.
• Pizza Ranch: In the oldest old JoAnn's Fabrics building at 2515 10th Avenue South. This one is a long time coming.

All of these are set to open by Fall/Winter 2025.
