I Loved My Afternoon At The Applestem Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch
I decided to take a drive and thought I'd head up to the Applestem Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. I had just done a story on Sunflower Days up there and thought it would be a fun afternoon.

I Stopped By The Adel Mountains Volcanic Field
Just passed Cascade, I realized I was just about to drive by the Adel Mountain Volcanic Field I had written about a while back. It was really fun to stop in and see the field with all new educated eyes. I even got a few new pictures and spotted the bridge from the movie, The Untouchables. It's where they said the American/Canadian border was in the movie. It's tiny, but you can see it from the turnoff. Check out that story right here:

It Wasn't A Very Long Drive
I want to say it was just about 45 minutes or so to get to Craig and Applestem, even with the stop at the Adel Mountains Volcanic Field. The perfect length to get a couple of road snacks and get through most of your road trip playlist.
Applestem Is A Child's Dream
After we arrived, a tractor-train picked us up from the parking lot and brought us to the entrance.
It's very relaxed and a person or family can go at their own pace. There are lots of activities for the kids to try. The big thing going on when I was there was making gigantic bubbles. There are also some animals there that are very people friendly.
Had Lunch In Cascade
Making the road trip complete, on the way home I pulled over in Cascade and had lunch at the Angus Bar. I'd highly recommend their food and the bartender was amazing.
This Is A Great Family Activity
I think that if you have kids 10-12 and under, you need to make an afternoon of the Applestem Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. It's almost Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch Season, and all those sunflowers? It's something you don't want to miss.
