The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes have constructed 81 wildlife crossings along US 93. It's called the US 93 Project, running through the Flathead Indian Reservation in the Ninepipe Management Area, and is one of the biggest wildlife crossing projects in the United States.

The wildlife crossings have proven to be effective after the animals gain confidence in them. That can take up to around 5 years depending on the animal.
