I Resolve To Stop Making New Years Resolutions
It's About Time For New Year's Resolutions To Take Over EVERYTHING
Isn't it just typical when you're basking in the holly jolly of the season: buying and wrapping gifts, making holiday goodies, visiting with friends and family and all that crazy cool holiday stuff, that right about now, we get slapped in the face with New Year's resolutions.
I'm Not Saying New Year's Resolutions Are Bad, But They're Not Good Either
New Year's resolutions are a great way for us as individuals to kick off better habits for a better life in the new year.
New Year's Resolutions are ALSO a great way to completely, totally, and utterly destroy your self esteem and give you a reason to beat yourself up to start the year.
For me, my biggest, best changes in my life like divorce and quitting smoking, weren't done because of a day on the calendar that everyone thinks we should reset. They were done because I'd simply had enough of my old life and wanted something new and better. When I did things for that reason, they happened easy enough.
Enough Of The Expected New Year's Resolutions
We all know the "basic resolutions"
- Lose weight
- Exercise
- Quit something IE: Smoking, drinking, eating soap, the like
- Get a new job
- And can we quit with the "gratitude" already. It's ok NOT to say you're thankful for every single thing, as well. I mean, seriously, talk about ruining a nice thing
Here Are Some New Year's Resolution Ideas That Are Totally Achievable
I got these ideas from Go Sail Montana and I LOVE them:
- Attend a beloved Montana event. IE: Bucking Horse Sale, Whoop-Up, 4th of July in Choteau, St. Patrick's Day in Butte
- Visit a new Montana town. Montana is so much more than our big towns. Do yourself a favor and discover a new local gem
- Make it a goal to buy local. That could be part of the souvenir fun of visiting a new Montana town
- Drive from one end of the state to the next. It's a bit of a drive. Plan for 2 or 3 days, at least
These are all achievable New Year's Resolutions that will also be fun.
