The 9 Best Plants For Container Gardening In Montana
Not All Montanans Live Where They Can Have A Garden
Us town folk have less room to work with when it comes to gardens then our country neighbors. That doesn't mean you can't have a garden. It just means you have to get a little creative.

I USED To Be A Big Fan Of Pallet Gardens
Pallet gardens are ok if that's all you can manage where you live.

The reasons I'm kind of over them are that they need too much repair (BLAST YOU SQUIRRELS), and they're so shallow, anything much more than an herb has a hard time growing and thriving in such a shallow, constricted space.
9 Veggies To Grow In Buckets Or Other Containers
From Growing In The Garden, these are the top 9 container vegetables:
1. Tomatoes:
- Pot should hold, at least, 10 gallons
- Pot needs to be able to accommodate a plant and trellis
- Plant as soon as you can after the last frost date
2. Peppers:
- Pot should hold, at least 5 gallons of dirt and have good drainage
- Peppers like the hot so a darker container is better
- You can stake the peppers when they get big enough
- Bring the container in and over winter in doors
3. Citrus:
- Container should hold, at least, 20 gallons of dirt
- Can over winter indoors
- Plant right after the first frost is over

- Choose a fabric container that opens near the bottom or dump your container to harvest your spuds

7. Egg Plant:
- Pot should hold, at least, 5 gallons of soil

8. Peas:

- Stakes should be placed when you plant them
- Dwarf varieties work best in containers
9. Sweet Potatoes:

- The plant will vine all around the container, just let it go

Good luck, fellow gardeners. Send me pics of your containers
