The Great Debate, The Scariest Thing About Living In Montana Is?
Every morning on the radio, we ask our Question Of The Day. Normally, it's a fun, light-hearted question. We might ask what's your favorite food? Or what is your favorite band? A lot of times, we will focus on Montana-related topics, like the question we asked yesterday, what's the scariest thing about living in Montana?
I'll be honest, I thought people would respond with things like Bears, Snakes, or my personal answer, living on top of the world's largest Super Volcano.
Don't get me wrong, a couple of people mentioned Grizzlies, and there was a comment or two about the Volcano, but that was nowhere near the most popular answer. It seems the thing that most Montanans are scared about is...people.
I should probably be a little more specific, it's not just people, but people not from Montana that seem to frighten us most. In fact, many of the comments were brutal and people sure didn't seem to hold back their feelings.
Here are a few highlights:
- "Your new next-door neighbor that's just unloading the U-Haul is from California and has already put an "In this house we believe...." yard sign out front."
- "It gradually changed into what Montana shouldn't be."
- "The more that move here ...there more it's not home anymore."
- "Crime and car wrecks are the new normal."
- "The Californians moving into the state. Oh. And Billings. Billings is scary!!!"
- "At least in Bozeman, the cost of housing and a non-conservative mindset."
- "That it’s changing from the state I once knew. We have managed to stay sane amid the rest of the country’s woke craziness for a long time. But it’s creeping in fast."
- "All the rich people buying and moving in, and legalizing drugs"
- "Tourism and people moving in from out of state..."
