What is a nerd?

It was always in my opinion a bit weird how one would get classified a nerd when I was younger. Liking Star Wars was OK, but liking Star Trek was seen as nerdy.

I remember when being called a nerd was one of the worst things that could happen to you. Now it seems nerd rule, and I think that's a great thing.

Think of what are some of the most popular things in pop culture today. Comic book movies, Dungeons and Dragons, Game of Thrones, and video games are all seem as non nerdy entertainment. They are still making new Star Wars and Star Trek shows and movies today, that's how popular they are.

All in all it's never been a better time to be a nerd in Montana.

Here's the thing about that picture, is today's "nerds" don't look like that. It's become so acceptable to like "nerdy" things the stereotypical look has gone out the window.

How nerdy is Montana?

The website Zippa set out to find which states are the nerdiest in America. Here's how they came up with their rankings,

We spent a great deal of time deliberating on this highly serious question. In the end, using the definition of a nerd as “someone extremely excited or enthusiastic about a subject, typically one of specialist or minority interest” we scoured internet search data to find the nerdiest states.

Where did Montana rank when it came to nerdiest states?

Montana is the #12 most nerdiest state. That's because Montana is asking Google quite a bit about Star Wars, Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons, and Harry Potter according to Zippa.

So be proud nerds of Montana; I am proud to stand beside you and proclaim my nerdom as well!
