Time To Check Your Freezer, We Have An Ice Cream Recall

In America, it seems like every week or so the last couple of years, we have a food recall.  Why should this week be any different?

As reported by the FDA, Totally Cool, Inc is recalling a number of their ice cream products.  When various Totally Cool ice cream products were tested, they were found to potentially be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

What Are Listeria monocytogenes?

Listeria monocytogenes are an organism which can cause anything from symptoms like a fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain to the serious and even fatal infections in those with weak immune systems or the elderly or very small children.

Where Was The Contaminated Ice Cream Sold?

The ice cream was distributed all over America to stores and also delivered directly to consumers at home.

So far, there have been no illnesses reported tied to the Totally Cool, Inc. ice cream brands, but there are quite a few different brands included in the recall.  If you have any other Totally Cool, Inc. brand products in your home that ARE NOT on this list, the products are perfectly safe for human consumption.
