3 Places Under The Big Sky Where It’s Hard To Be Nice
In Montana, We Pride Ourselves On Being Nice
Good neighbors with good manners. That's what Montanans are to me. HOWEVER, the last 3-4 years have been testing Montanans to the core. We try to be nice, but with each new Montana resident or visitor being patient and kind is harder than ever.
Where In Montana Is It Especially Hard To Be Nice?
It used to be that most people who came to visit Montana was generally decent, sure we get a few jackwads who visit the state, but in general, everyone was pretty nice. It's easy to be nice to someone who is nice to you. However, there are a few places in the state where it's a lot easier to let frustration get the best of even a mannerly Montanan.
Paradise Valley And The Area
All of us that are FROM Montana know that that section of the state is being over run by entitled trust fund babies and their servants. I hardly go to Bozeman/Big Sky anymore because it's surreal how much the area has changed. When residents of Big Sky Country can't live in their home town anymore because of no-manners-get-the-manager-out-of-staters, it's hard to be nice.
Yellowstone/Glacier National Park
It's all a "day in the park" until some idiot out-of-stater tries to punch a bison, gets lost on a glacier, or dies taking a dip in a Yellowstone hot spring. When Montanans see those types of shenanigans in our state's national parks, it's hard to be nice.
Trespassing On Private Property Anywhere In The State
I'm not sure what 'no trespassing' means in other states and countries, but in Montana, it means you are not welcome on this land. When people trespass on private land, it's hard to be nice.
So whether you're visiting the state or just moved here, remember, we want to be nice. Montana is all about the good neighbor thing. Make it easy. Don't do these things that make it hard to be nice to you.
