Ford Is Recalling 115,000 Super Duty Pickups

Ford Motor Company is recalling over 115,000 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty pickups from 2020 and 2021.

This is a pretty serious recall. It looks like your steering wheel can detach from the column while you're driving. That seems extremely dangerous.

According to recall documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford said,

the steering column upper shaft hard slider doesn't meet pull-apart specifications, which may allow it to separate from the steering column, leading to a loss of steering control. The documents show that there are no warnings—on the instrument cluster or otherwise—that would alert drivers ahead of the detachment.

How Will You Know If Your Ford Pickup Is Involved In The Recall?

Watch your mail. Ford is sending out notifications to have you bring your pickup in for inspection. Some interim owner notification letters should be sent out between October 6, 2025 and October 10, 2025. Remedy letters should be in the mail at the end of the year.

You should be able to go online and search the VIN number on your Ford Pickup to see if your rig is a part of the recall.

What Can You Expect At The Ford Dealership?

The dealer inspect your pickup and will either reinforce your steering column or they'll replace the parts on your steering column that fail the Ford dealer's inspection.
