What Is Dave's Hot Chicken?

That was the question on my mind today while checking out news of Montana. I see that there is a Dave's Hot Chicken in Billings, and now they're gearing up to open up shop in Missoula.

At the very end of the report KRTV mentioned that Dave's Hot Chicken is in the works for Helena and our tiny little river town, Great Falls.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Great Falls is usually so far down on the list of new business plans that we're 10 slots after the last space. We're usually in line to get in line. I had to get to the bottom of the newest tastes that are coming to the Electric City.

From Dave's Hot Chicken website:

"Three childhood friends in their 20’s who scraped together $900. Our not-so-grand opening was in 2017, in a parking lot in East Hollywood, with a couple of folding tables and a portable fryer under the night sky."

After Eater LA came out and tried the chicken, the chicken went viral and the rest is history.

What's On The Menu At Dave's Hot Chicken?

Spices go from "no spice" to "Reaper", and it appears there are 5 different levels.

On the menu, there was, of course, chicken, along with sliders, "Not Chicken" which is cauliflower yumminess, fries, cheese fries, mac and cheese, coleslaw, shakes, slushies and soda.

Sounds great, right?

When Is Dave's Hot Chicken Coming To Great Falls?

According to QSR on October 22, 2025:

"Montana Chicken Company’s expansion into Wyoming follows significant progress in its original development territory of Montana, where the group continues to grow rapidly. Their Billings location is currently open, with Missoula slated to open in November 2025, followed by Great Falls. Additional restaurants are already being planned in Helena and Kalispell, bringing the group’s total to six Montana locations once complete."
