It's all due to the new EPA regulations adopted by the United States due to the water crisis in Flint Michigan from 2014 (A problem Flint has only had resolved for just over a year by the way).

How Do You Know If Your Lines Will Be Inspected?

From The Press Release, City of Great Falls:

In November 2024, The City of Great Falls started sending out letters to homes with "water service lines of "unknown" material in the city limits". If there was no response to the letter sent back in November 2024, The City of Great Falls will send technicians to your place of residence to find out what kind of water service lines you have at your home. The technicians may ask to enter your home or crawl space to check the water lines.

The City Has A Lot On Their Plate: New Crack-Down On Parking Tickets

If you don't answer, a door hanger will be left asking you to schedule an appointment for the inspection.

If you didn't get a notice letter in the mail, you have nothing to worry about.

According to the Press Release, the workers will have a City of Great Falls ID that includes their name and photo.

"Current city code makes the water line from the house to the main the responsibility of the property owner."
