Nobody Is Handing Out Cannabis Edibles To Kids On Halloween

Every year at about this time, I have to write this article on cannabis candy and the unlikely event it will be handed out for Halloween this year or any year.

I can not stress enough that nobody is doing this with trick-or-treaters. Here are some examples:

• THC sucker, $10
• 20 THC gummy candies, not individually wrapped, $24
• 1 THC brownie, $24

These prices are from 3 different dispensaries, but they're around the same prices everywhere within a few bucks of each other.

Common sense ALONE tells you that with prices like that, we will most likely NEVER see anyone purposefully give out THC candy for the holidays.

Trick Or Truth: An Urban Legend Is Born

I honestly have to wonder if this is born of the "razor blade in your candy" shenanigans that was going on when I was a kid.

I half way think that went as far as it did because I'm a Gen X kid. It was quicker for my parents to take the candy to the ER and have it scanned than actually go trick-or treating with me or send anyone trick or treating with me.

It was in the 1970's that the razor blade thing really kicked off in America. Thing is, rumors started in the 1940's or 1950's. In an interview with NPR in 2023, Joel Best said:

Since we can't really get away with scaring kids and parents this way anymore, I think it's been replaced with the pot candy Halloween rascality.

It's also another way for the anti-pot folks to gaslight us. I think they come up with this swill while they're having their 3rd Jameson, neat.

Bottom Line For Halloween In Montana

Nobody is giving any kids super duper expensive THC candy for Halloween. And no razor blades in candy either.
