Why Are Montana Lawmakers Sidestepping Voter Decisions?
Creating Loopholes To Table Voter's Will In Montana
It seems like our legislators spent a lot of time this session trying to get around some things that Montanans have said they want, over and over and over again.
It really is exhausting, isn't it? It's like saying no to a toddler.
If it wasn't trying to overturn something that we voted in, they were quick to rush in and try to impose their beliefs and values as law in Montana.
Again, it's like dealing with a person that has never been told no in their entire life. Exhausting.
Montana's 2025 Legislature And Their Freaky Infatuation Women's Rights And Gender
Seriously, reading this Montana Public Radio article from March 2025 is a bit scary. And it only covers about half of the session.
Our legislature has a hyperfixation on what women do with their bodies and super hyperfixation of what is inside of people's underwear. I have to wonder why they're so scared.
These Were Voted Down By Montana's 2025 Legislature:
- House Bill 609 to prohibit abortion trafficking
- House Bill 555 to restrict medical abortions
- House Bill 565 requiring insurance companies to pay for in vitro fertilization
It's not like the abortion things weren't bad enough. Women are used to people trying to impose their will on us. Maybe that's why I feel the 2 wackadoodle-circumvent-the-will-of-the-people House Bills 609 and 555 are par for the course. They didn't pass, so my belief in Montanans, not other people, Montanans, is still solid as ever.
These? The following bills are shameful and show a HUGE preoccupation with what is absolutely nobody's business.
Ways The 2025 Legislature Targeted LGBTQ+
The Anti LGBTQ+ Bills That Passed In Montana In 2025:
- Senate Bill 164 makes it a felony for any adult who procures or provides gender transition-related treatments for trans minors under 16
- House Bill 121 makes it illegal to use a bathroom other than the one designated by your biology
- House Bill 682 gives a 4 year statute of limitations for patients to sue medical providers for gender transition related care. (The sponsors wanted it to be 25 years)
- Senate Bill 437 wants to define sex, male, female, and other gender related terms to be restricted by their reproductive biology
The Anti LGBTQ+ Bills That Failed In Montana In 2025:
- Senate Joint Resolution 15 asking the United Stated Supreme Court to overturn the 2015 gay marriage ruling
- House Bill 675 wanted to create new restrictions for drag performances
- House Bill 754 would have had parents investigated by the state if they support their child in their desire for gender transformation
Imagine the good that could have been done with housing or property taxes (for us, not the one percenters), feeding children, and helping the elderly and the homeless.
If you really hate people that aren't you that much, work on the infrastructure.
Instead we keep sending people to Helena that make laws that benefit landlords and hurt renters, are fixated on drag queens and LGBTQ+, and want to keep women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
If there's one thing 2025 is teaching us is that elections matter. Who you vote for matters.
