Want to get away, but leaving the state isn't an option, and if you have one more Staycation you're going to just lose it?  I feel ya! I found 12 places you can stay, IN MONTANA, that will make you feel like you've really gotten away from it all, without just heading up to the mountains or coulee and pitching a tent.  These are places that, to me, could really feel like a vacation and remind you of the majesty of Montana.

It's really easy to find a lot of touristy stuff near Glacier and Yellowstone.  So, while there are some properties there, I tried to find stuff by Great Falls, like The Ranches at Belt Creek, and not right in the hub of where tourists end up.

I included lots of cabins, plus a dome, a tree house, a converted barn, converted storage containers, a converted grain bin, The Harding Home in Virginia City and even a private island on Flathead Lake. Some properties shown, like the little A Frame,  and the Old Karst Cabin, boast total off the grid living.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, you can get a very cool property that has more amenities than most of us enjoy in our homes.  Most importantly, each one has a spectacular view under the big sky.  Depending on which one you decide to check out, nightly rates are anywhere from about $75 a night to a whopping $1,100 if you do the island.
