My driver's license expired on my birthday.  I had heard that appointments need to be made to renew a license, so I went online to make an appointment.  I can't even BEGIN to express the joy that filled my soul when I was able to renew my license online.

You read that right, you can renew your driver's license online. Just click here.

I happily took the 5 minutes to fill out the form and even happily paid the $60+ fee.  It was glorious.  No going into the office.  No waiting in line.  No stressing out about the picture.  It's done and done.

I ran out of the control room and asked if I was the last to know about this amazingly convenient way to renew your license.  Big Billy knew, but no one else.  That's why I'm writing this article.  I need to spread the news.

There Are Restrictions

  • Of course, you can't do this twice in a row.  I figure, at some point they need a new picture of you.
  • You must be within the renewal time frame, 6 months before it expires to one year after the expiration.
  • Your license has not been suspended or revoked in any state.
  • Of course, you can't get your Real ID this way.  There are several steps that need to be handled in person. (The deadline dates have been extended on mandatory Real IDs AGAIN.  Now you have until May 2025)

There are more, but these were the ones that stuck out to me for people who don't drive for a living.

So rejoice in the fact that it isn't such a chore to legally continue driving in Big Sky Country.  I'm sure there are some who will disagree, but I applaud this time saving measure.
