Welcome to Pi day.

It's the one day a year where all the math smarties can hangout and make math jokes and puns until your ears fall off.

At least that's how it's going to be in my house because my wife and the kid are both gifted in the math realm, and I've heard everything.

I'm the total opposite. I can only count if I'm playing guitar.

The infinite number is celebrated all across the world and has some pretty interesting origins and facts to go along with it.

According to piday.org, Pi has a pretty layered history and lore behind it that you may or may not know about.

Pi has Welsh origins being recognized as Pi for about 250 years with the symbol being scratched out by a man named William Jones and popularized by a dude named Leonhard Euler.

There is a whole language or dialect based in PI called Pi-lish. According to a BBC article one can write poems or Pi-ems with one word starting with 3 letters, then 1, followed by four and so on. Entire books are written on this subject if you would like to read up on the language.

Piday.org also talks about how the principles Pi was said to be used in Ancient Eqypt with the building the pyramids of Giza, one of the wonders of the world. It state that the height of the pyramid is relative to the perimeter of its base the same as the radius of a circle is relative to its circumference.

Do not ask me to do the math on that one, it's all Geek...I mean Greek to me.

Very important people have birthdays that also coincide with Pi Day.

Pretty big names if you ask me.

For National Pi Day, grab your favorite pie as a snack, I would suggest pecan pie.

Sit down and think really hard about numbers.
