How You Can Help Students in Great Falls With Music Needs
There's a lot that goes into being a "good student", isn't there? Making good grades in core subjects is important, there's no question about that - oh! And good behavior, you gotta act right and treat people with respect, we can't forget that.
But, there are other things that we would argue that are just as important for a student's development into a productive citizen of society.
Extracurricular Activities For Great Falls Students
Some students enjoy getting out of the classroom and onto the field or court, others might be into art or playing chess, and then there are those who find their outlet in the form of music.

And who doesn't love music?
Everyone listens to something and for the schools of Great Falls, students can hone their skills in jazz, orchestra, etc. But that wouldn't be possible without instruments!
I know, that sounds like common sense but unfortunately, instruments endure wear and tear, especially as they're used over and over again through the years, passed down from student to student.
Great Falls Public Schools Needs Our Help
GFPS Music Director, Dusty Molyneaux and viola student, Addie came into our studios this week to talk about the Great Falls Public Schools and the need for instrument donations.

Molyneaux shared that some of the instruments used by students like Addie have been used since the 60s! When we talked to Addie on-air about the need for instruments, she highlighted the maintenance some of these instruments require, which spoiler: it can get expensive! And that's just maintaining an instrument, buying one can be just as pricey.
According to MusicArts.com, the least expensive instrument is the bell kit at $220 with the most expensive being the French horn at an average price of $1,700.

Great Falls Public Schools is calling upon the community to bring their "gently used instrument" to any GFPS. If you don't have an instrument to donate, you can donate money directly to their Encore Program HERE.
Monetary donations will be used to clean and repair instruments they already have. And remember - every little bit helps.
