A camping stove sold at Walmart stores across the country has been recalled due to the potential of becoming a fire hazard.

What's been recalled?

The recalled item is a small, one-burner butane camping stove made by Ozark Trail.  It's been recalled because there have been reports of them catching fire or exploding, which I shouldn't have to tell you, isn't a good thing.

Despite over 200,000 of these stoves being recalled, there is good news.  It's only one specific model that is being recalled, and you can check the following criteria to check to see if yours has been recalled.

Criteria One:  The recalled stoves were sold at physical Walmarts and on Walmart.com nationwide from March 2023 until October 2025.  If you or someone you know did not buy an Ozark Trail camping stove in that time frame, you're not part of this recall. Otherwise, proceed to Criteria Two.

Criteria Two:  Check the website linked above.  If you have a camping stove that looks like the one in the picture, check the inside of the compartment where the butane canister goes.  You're looking for a label with a model number of BG2247A1.  If that isn't your model, you're good to go.

I have the recalled stove.  What do I do?

If you have one of the recalled stoves, stop using it immediately.  Take it back to Walmart for a full refund.

As of last week, there have been around 30 reports of these stoves catching fire or exploding, some of which did result in injuries.
