Great Falls, Montana Man Sentenced For Role In Capitol Riot

In September 2023, Patrick O'Brien of Great Falls, entered into a plea agreement with the United States of America and pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

According to the United States Attorneys' Offices for the District of Columbia, O’Brien has been sentenced to 36 months probation, 90 days home detention, 100 hours of community service and will need to pay $500 in restitution. He is also prohibited from possessing any firearms during the period of probation.

By entering his guilty plea, the government has agreed to drop the counts of entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, and disorderly conduct.

KRTV reported in November 2023, that the US Department of Justice alleges that O'Brien drove to Washington DC from Montana with his juvenile son. The United States Department of Justice alleges that O'Brien and his son were in the Capitol building for just under a half an hour.

O'Brien Is The Latest Montanan To Face Charges

KTVH is reporting Hank Muntzer of Dillon, Montana is still awaiting trial for being accused of entering the Capitol with the intent to impede and disrupt the certification of the 2020 presidential election by congress. His trial was set for this morning in Washington DC.

Montanans Already Tried For The January 6th Insurrection

Elmer Stuart Rhodes, disbarred Montana attorney. The Oath Keepers Founder was sentenced to 18 years in prison for seditious conspiracy.
Isaac Sturgeon of Dillon. Convicted of more than a half dozen charges. Part of the group who is seen picking up a metal barricade and shoving it into a group of police officers. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison with 3 years supervised release.
Jerod and Joshua Hughes of East Helena. Some of the first rioters to breach the Capitol, the men were some that encountered Officer Eugene Goodman. Both brothers pleaded guilty to Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting. Jerod Hughes was sentenced to 3 years 10 months in prison and Joshua Hughes was sentenced to 3 years 2 months in prison.
