First Day At The Montana State Fair With Big Billy
Last Friday, the 28th of July was the first day of the Montana State fair. The temperature was mild in the mid to upper 70's, there was a tiny breeze rolling through the fairgrounds and us as a station were setting up and ready for remote broadcasts during the day and evening.
I had the luck of the draw to have the first remote broadcast of the whole fair that afternoon. After talking on the radio a bit I decided to head down the food midway. If you know The Montana State Fair, you know that you can find all your delicious favorites, and for me, it's the Porkchop Sandwich from Brian's Top Notch.
This sandwich in particular felt like a badge of honor.
"Why a badge of honor?" You ask.
Well, before I was handed this fully-loaded amazing fried sandwich, The owner, Brian himself wrapped it in tin-foil and yelled at the top of his lungs:
"First porkchop sandwich of the Montana State Fair!"
Blushing with pride, I took the sandwich and was honored eat the first one.
I took a break for a few hours then headed back to meet a friend and see how everyone was enjoying the first night of the fair.
Around 8:30pm, thunder and lightning came to the party. At this point the Expo Park was filled with families and teens eagerly awaiting the rides.
Not too long after the thunder and lightning, heavy rain descended upon The Electric City and the fair.
Many could be seen running for their vehicles. However a majority ran for tents set up near food and headed to the various buildings waiting for the rain to subside. After about a half and hour the rain quit.
As soon as people got the clear. Lights, people and rides resumed to a wonderful first night at the Montana State Fair.
After a bag of fresh donuts and a walk-about, I thought the first night at the Montana State Fair was both eventful and fun.
