Central Montana Sports Round Up With Baker Bob
Central Montana AA Football, Week 7
Here we go into week seven of the season and it's the elite having cemented themselves as the top dogs in the AA state ranks with the Bozeman hawks. Gallatin Raptors, Glacier Wolfpack and let's not forget about the Butte High Bulldogs looking down on the also rans. With Hellgate, Belgrade, and Flathead, yet to notch a win. Where in the middle, you'll find the Great Falls High Bison and the CMR Rustlers.
Great Falls High Bison Homecoming, Last Week
Homecoming festivities for the Bison came to a conclusion with a feeding frenzy of touchdowns by the Gallatin Raptors last Friday evening. The Raptors fresh from their close loss to Bozeman felt they had to make a statement. The Bison ran for just under 100 yards, 50% of their season normal. The Bison used seven receivers and put up only 84 yards through the air.
Bison Play Billings Thursday Night, 10/5/23
The Bison take their three and three record to Billings tonight (Thursday) to challenge the Golden Bears, who also sit at three and three. Their most recent loss came from the number one Bozeman Hawks. The Bear’s quarterback, number 12 McDowell, has 1200 yards passing with three receivers amassing 200 yards each. In the rushing game. It's all #6 Clounch at 400 yards so far., The Bison will need ball control and solid D to stay in this one , but don't be surprised when they do just that and add a W!! Don't count the Herd out of this one.
As for the Rustlers on Friday night they take on the Hawks
The boys will need a short memory and need to put last weeks heartbreaker behind them and focus on the number one Hawks. Caleb Taylor will need to stay sharp and do his best to find open receivers. Get them the ball quickly and in space and let them run to pay dirt. River Wasson will again be the wildcard. He needs to be the go to guy. The three and three Rustlers will need a huge defensive effort to frustrate Hawks quarterback, Kellen Harrison. Dorian, White and Hunter Lee will need to have the D line pressure the quarterback into quick throws. Nick Donister must be in the backfield early and often, Rocky Lencioni of the Bears must be kept below his average receiving and Casagranda held in check in the rushing category. Look for CMR to pressure with blitzes attacking the passing game to make the Hawks one dimensional if the Rustlers hope to keep this one close.
Oh, by the way, to my Rustler friends. I hope your homecoming was fun and successful.
