
Montana Highline Town Offering Unique Giveaway to Raise Funds
In the "early days" perusing the Great Falls newspaper classified advertisements could lead to some unique finds. And I always found myself glancing through them for odd finds. Not that I wanted to buy anything; it was more about what someone would be willing to sell. Or better yet, what someone would be willing to buy.
That fascination has lasted, and often I find myself in the evening cruising through marketplace ads on social media, auction sites or even Craigslist for crazy things being listed. The latest find, while definitely unique, also is for a great cause in the small highline town of Chinook and might even fit in your backyard.

For small towns, parks are a luxury. My hometown didn't even have one. We just went to the school playground if we wanted to swing or take a rip down a lava heated aluminum slide. Ahh, memories. But what if you could have your childhood slide in your backyard?

The town of Chinook, Montana is betting that you do and are offering a piece of the town's history to someone that wants to relive the fun of taking that trip down memory lane of a curvy slide. And it all goes for a great cause in the town, helping with improvements to the local park.
Own a Small Piece of Small-Town Montana History and a Sure Conversation Starter
Through the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation, the "iconic" and "legendary" curved slide at the Sweet Memorial Park will go up for auction to the highest bidder. The event is part of the city's Brewfest Celebration on September 12, 2026.

According to the Foundation, all proceeds from the Curly Slide Auction will go directly towards the upcoming renovations at Sweet Park. The renovations are slated to begin just a few days after the sale on September 15th. Learn more about the event here.
