~Leftover Turkey Time~
Have your heard? There's a turkey shortage! Really? I thought it was a TP shortage. Seems like we're short of a lot of things. Common sense for instance - but that is a different story for another time.
What I DO know is grocery prices are crazy high. I am lucky enough to work at a place that still gives out a holiday turkey or sometimes a ham, depending on the holiday. This year I had already ordered a smoked turkey breast from one of our local Great Falls restaurants. That means I have a 19+ lb. turkey in my freezer. I'm planning to put it on the Traeger, one of these less windy days. So not only will I have leftovers, but I'll have darn near the whole thing. What am I going to do with that? All kinds of things. The internet has a plethora of ideas, way beyond my effort. :-) If you have the time and talent, go for it. But, if you're more like me, then let's get started.
The standby is a good 'ol turkey sandwich. You can make it simple or make it fancy. For starters, what is your favorite bread? I'm in love with Wheat Montana's Honey Oat loaf. Are you a mayo or miracle whip fan? Tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, lettuce, vinegar & oil, bacon - oh yes please BACON!
Turkey Soup: This one looks like a type of chowder. You can always go with turkey noodle or pretty much anything you can substitute chicken for. Pass the pepper please!
Turkey tacos, turkey wraps, turkey stir fry. All good choices for low fat protein and nummy taste!
Just a reminder for the pets in our lives. No matter how much they beg and how cute they are, please don't let them have the bones. We want to keep things fun this holiday season. (A trip to the vet is not fun. Let's not do that.)
