Downtown Parking Numbers See Uptick in Usage in Great Falls
There is a topic that comes up often in Great Falls, and it can cause some heated debate between businesses, both those for and those against. It even involves the residents of our fair city. And no, it isn't about chickens.
Parking in the downtown area of the Electric City always seems to cause a dilemma; whether it be how cars should be parked to how much should be charged, if anything for parking and enjoying the revitalization of the downtown area.

Downtown Parking - Do You Mind Paying or Would You Prefer Free?
The debate has spurred the City of Great Falls to take a fresh look at how downtown is used, and how residents prefer to park, whether on the street or using one of the available parking garages.

Personally, I don't mind paying a few coins to enjoy the afternoon at the tattoo shop or taking in an event. And apparently, there are a lot of residents that feel the same, with new numbers from the city showing a big uptick in the downtown parking scene.
Downtown Parking Numbers See Uptick in Usage in Great Falls
The City of Great Falls has just released new data for the downtown parking spaces and garages, and I have to admit, I am surprised, but also excited. Numbers for the past two months show that:
- March 2026 had 849 more Central Avenue users than in 2025
- April 2026 had 974 more Central Avenue users than in 2025
- South Garage usage up for April 2026 compared to 2025
Those are encouraging numbers in my opinion. More shoppers mean more money for local businesses in the downtown of Great Falls. And that is never a bad thing.
